FFA CORNER 2016-2017
TAYLAR - This is my senior year at CHS. I have been a member of the Chillicothe FFA for four years and hold the State FFA Degree. My supervised agricultural experience "SAE" consists of raising and harvesting soybeans on 23 acres of land which gives me experience to learn more about farming and record keeping. My other SAE is that I buy a lamb and raise and show at the county fair in July, then sell the lamb around early to mid-August to Grand River Livestock Market. Outside FFA, I am a football and basketball cheerleader, a member of FCA all four years, and I joined student council my senior year. After high school, I plan to attend St. Joseph Beauty University of Hair & Nail Design. The thing I most enjoyed about FFA would be Barnwarming. FFA has taught me to be a responsible person, be outgoing, and to never give up. My favorite memory in FFA is going to National FFA Convention and getting to make new friends. My advice to a younger and future student is to set a goal and work hard to accomplish it. Also, get out of your comfort zone and get involved with new things and always have faith in yourself and what you do. MASON - I am a senior at Chillicothe High School. I have been an FFA member for four years now and am currently serving as the Chapter 2nd Vice President. I hope to obtain my state FFA degree in the spring of 2017. My SAE includes working on a farm as a placement job and showing hogs. After high school, I plan to attend North Central Missouri College and to continue working my placement job.
Other than FFA, I am involved in SkillsUSA, the Hunting and Fishing Club, and Ducks Unlimited. The thing I enjoy most about FFA is all the fun activities we do together as a chapter. FFA has taught me many of things, but public speaking skills were what I learned most during my time in the organization. My favorite memory in FFA was Washington Leadership Conference in Washington DC. I am thankful to be a part of such a great organization.
SARAH - I am currently a senior at Southwest Livingston County High School and a fourth year member of the Chillicothe FFA chapter. I have held the office of Chapter 2nd Vice President for Chillicothe. In high school, I participated in basketball, softball, football cheer, basketball cheer, quiz bowl, FBLA, student council, FCCLA, National Honor Society and FFA. While in FFA, I have developed responsibility and a passion for animals through my Supervised Agriculture Experience by raising Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats and working at the Young Veterinary Clinic. Through my four years at FFA, my favorite part was meeting new people while traveling to Washington Leadership Conference, National Convention, State FFA Camp, Public Speaking Academy, and others. After graduation, I will go to National Guard training until the end of October. Afterwards, I plan to attend Missouri State University for my bachelor's in animal science while enrolled in the ROTC program. The next step is to attend a veterinary college for my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine to come back to a rural area and work with large and small animals. FFA has taught me many valuable lessons relating the importance of agriculture to each aspect of our lives. I have also had the chance to find leadership, courage, and power within myself through my experiences in this organization. My favorite memory from FFA is WLC where I saw all the monuments and met kids from across the country while still having a lot of fun. LOGAN - I am senior at Southwest Livingston County R-1. My SAE is placement at Orschelns. In my SAE, I have gained self-confidence and become a more responsible person. In my high school career, I was also in football and baseball. I really enjoyed FFA because of all the extra things you get to do in the organization. I have gotten to travel to the U.S. capitol and spend a week there touring the streets of Washington D.C. After school, I plan on working full time for Castile Creek Kennels as a trainer. My advice to younger students is to do as much as you possibly can with FFA. Be as involved as you can.
RACHEL - For the past four years, I have been a member of the Chillicothe FFA Chapter. I am a senior at CHS. My SAE project is working at Jersey's Sports Grill as a server. My SAE has taught me responsibility especially when it comes to money and time management. Along with FFA, I'm also involved in FCCLA, Choir, and Student Council. FFA is my favorite, as I enjoy all of my classes and each FFA activity. FFA has taught me many skills such as public speaking, leadership, time/money management, how to properly run meetings, teamwork, the value of hard work, and most importantly, the value of agriculture. I have so many memories when it comes to these past four years at the Litton Ag Center, and I've made so many new friends. My future plans consist of moving to Kansas City and attending Paul Mitchell, a cosmetology school, in Overland Park in the fall of 2017. I will be graduating in November of 2018, and I will continue pursuing my career as a cosmetologist. KADE - I am a senior at Chillicothe High School, and I am currently serving as the Chapter's 1st Vice President. My SAE consists of showing goats and cattle and growing crops. Throughout my four years in FFA, I have learned the responsibilities that come with taking care of animals and the patience and time management that is involved with it. After graduation, I plan to attend Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, and obtain a degree in either Ag Business or Animal Science. FFA has given me great experiences and memories that I will cherish forever.
RYLEE - I'm a senior at Chillicothe High School and have been a member of Chillicothe FFA for four years. I have received my State FFA Degree. My SAE includes caring for a wide variety of every type of animal and some row crops as well. I have evaluated and dedicated my time specifically to making myself properly propagated into my SAE and school. My future plans are to continue my sheep and equine production along with helping my brother with the cattle and hay season. The things I enjoy about FFA are the different types of people you meet and the variety of different activities from Barnwarming to State Convention as well as the local banquets. FFA has taught me that you don't have to live out in the country to be a part of making our society a better place. My favorite memory would be when we would all go to PBR the past three years. My future plans are to attend NCMC to obtain my nursing degree and then carry on with my life before returning to get my Doctorate degree. KEVIN - This is my senior year at Chillicothe High School and fourth year as an FFA member. My SAE is working on a beef production farm in Wheeling. I plan on getting my own farm one day and raising cattle. In FFA the one thing I enjoyed the most was always the Christmas party - a time where you could spend time with your FFA Chapter and have fun for the night.

I have been active in 4-H, FCCLA, FBLA, Student Council, National Honor Society, Stand for the Silent, Band, and Cheerleading. I am currently serving as the Area II 1st Vice President, my chapter's 2nd Vice President, and next year will serve as a Missouri State FFA Officer. I raise and show French Alpine Dairy goats throughout the year and sell the milk products to some members of my community as an Agribusiness component of my SAE. In the past I have also worked for Hy-Vee and my family farm for a placement position. Throughout my FFA career, I have attended national convention, state convention, Public Speaking Academy, State FFA Camp, and Washington Leadership Conference. However, my favorite memory was attending the Missouri Agribusiness Academy during the summer of my sophomore year where I got to tour different agribusinesses across the state of Missouri with 31 other students. For the past four years, the Litton Ag Center has been my home away from home and being a part of the FFA has taught me many leadership, public speaking, and professional skills that I will take with me for the rest of my life. JAKE - I am a senior at Chillicothe High School. I have been a member of FFA for four years and have earned my State FFA Degree. My SAE consists of raising and showing swine and working at the Litton Agri-Science Learning Center as the intern. Throughout the four years of my SAE I have learned many valuable life skills. These life skills include: taking care of an animal, the value of time and money, and hard work. After high school, I plan to attend Northwest Missouri State University and double major in agribusiness management and plant science. My time in the FFA organization has taught me how to be a successful, responsible, and a leader. FFA has shaped me into the person I am today. It shaped me by the instruction, events, and activities that the organization puts on; but the biggest impact that FFA has had on me was the people. Without this organization I would not have many of the same friends that I do today. My advice to the younger students and the students not yet in FFA is to make the most of your high school career and join organizations that interest you. I am thankful that I joined this great organization and you may be too.
